Tea & Carlton Hill

For Sarah's last full day in Edinburgh, we spent the morning at school while I did some work, before heading to Eteaket for a traditional afternoon tea (Sarah had requested we go here before she got here, with a message along the lines of 'can we go to that tea thing you did that post on'?).

As usual, it was an absolute delight with way too much food. We both got Bre and Cranberry sandwiches. And I continue to spell sandwitches like they are magical beach sorcerers.

After tea, we stopped in Primark (or maybe that was before tea) and I picked up a dress for Maya's wedding. Following that, we walked up Carlton Hill, checking out all the random monuments and buildings that are perched up there.

There was a large group of Germans drinking whisky (for some unknown reason) but other than that there weren't a lot of people up the hill, which was nice, as it is usually quite overrun with tourists.

After Carlton Hill, we walked down to the Omni Centre where we met Melissa for an advance screening of The Fault in Our Stars (a full week ahead of the UK release date!). Of course, due to the fact that the UK release date for the TFIOS film was one of the last in the world, Sarah had already seen it as a normal screening in Canada, but she was happy to come again. It was really good, and very true to the book, and we got a free poster when we left, which was fun! The three of us were also almost certainly the oldest ones in the theatre, and there were some girls openly sobbing, but hey, we were kind of expecting that (luckily Melissa is a quiet crier and Sarah and I are both made of steel).

  2. What a perfect day! Edinburgh seems like a city made for walking.
